Zero Point Model — ZeroPointModel.com

Every life has
a Before
and an After.

Zero Point is the threshold between them. A mental model and framework for the moments that divide everything — and the people who learn to read them before they arrive.

You can look back at your life and find them without effort. The moments where everything changed. Before the diagnosis. After the call. Before the decision. After the door closed. You already know this is true. Zero Point is the practice of knowing it in advance — and moving through it with clarity.

The Zero Point Mental Model

One term. Three simultaneous meanings.

Zero Point is not a metaphor. It is a structure — one that holds three distinct and equally valid truths at once.

01
Ground Zero

The site of impact. The point from which all damage — and all rebuilding — is measured. Not the event itself, but the ground on which everything after is now standing. The origin of a new coordinate system.

02
Reset Point

The origin of what comes next. The place where a new count begins. Not a return to zero as failure — but zero as the only honest starting number. Everything before this point is history. Everything after is construction.

03
Inflection Point

The moment where direction reverses. Where the line that was going one way begins to go another. The mathematical point of maximum curvature. Before Zero Point, the trajectory was one thing. After, it is something else entirely.

Where do you meet your Zero Points?

The model is universal. The application is specific. Choose the context where you encounter your thresholds.

Four phases. Every Zero Point moves through them.

Whether the threshold is personal or professional, anticipated or sudden — the same four-phase structure applies.

I
Anticipate

Before Zero Point arrives. Mapping fragility, building resilience, developing the vocabulary to see what is coming.

“Where am I exposed and calling it stable?”

II
Appreciate

Inside the threshold. The practice of witnessing without collapsing — giving full attention to what is happening and what it is revealing.

“What is this moment actually showing me?”

III
Navigate

Moving through. Decision-making under changed conditions — orienting to the new coordinate system without pretending the old one still applies.

“What does this new reality actually require?”

IV
Carry

After Zero Point. Integration — what you take with you, what you leave behind, and how the threshold becomes part of who you are.

“Who am I now that this has happened?”

The Letter

By any reasonable measure, Vikram was in a strong position. Fourteen years building a distribution business. A contract with a large retail group that represented 60% of revenue — renewed every year for a decade. Structural, by any practical measure. The retailer was acquired on a Friday. By Wednesday, Vikram received a letter. The contract was being wound down over 90 days. He had 90 days to replace 60% of his revenue or close. The business survived. The model was rebuilt with no single client above 15%. Revenue is double what it was before the letter arrived. “The catastrophe was that I’d been running a fragile business for years and calling it stable.”
